Final Blog Reflection

Over the course of the four months of blogging I have written so much more than ever before. I have never considered myself a writer but after this blog I feel much more confident than ever before. Because of the nature of my blog for the last five weeks I feel the volume that I have written is even more impressive as it walks hand in hand with the five projects I performed in my high school shop.

The main area I feel I need to improve upon (along with posting on time) is my punctuation and grammar. As I am a more conversational writer I try to use very little outlining as it always feels to clunky to me but this lack of outlining and planning usually results in poor grammar and punctuation that doesn’t quite fit. I am working on this but it is still very evident in my posts. “While I knew from experience that a company who manufactures phone cases would not use flammable or toxic materials I was unaware that under the protective outer layer and the black and white inner layers was a sort of cork material. While I knew from experience that a company who manufactures phone cases would not use flammable or toxic materials I was unaware that under the protective outer layer and the black and white inner layers was a sort of cork material.” this quote from, Laser Engraved Phone Case: Project Reflection, clearly shows how even though my writing tends to include the reader more it often results in run on sentences and confusing structure.

After all the time I spent working on my blog posts I have really improved on the structure in my posts, especially the peanut butter and jelly sandwich model. This is where you start a post with an introduction followed by the  body which contains the facts and the substance. The final part of the structure is normally the closing which is a review of the main points in the body. In this post the closing is a review of what I have gained throughout the course of this blog.

I feel like my strongest point is in my writing style. I mentioned this in my earlier but my style of writing is very conversational and I believe that this is a lot more interesting to read. This can be seen in my post Trans Am Fire bird Coin: Mentor Blog Reflection. Even though I’ve already mentioned thit post it is a good post to refer to.

My proudest moment of writing this blog was after I finished the first project for the final section of my blog. The project was a laser engraved  phone case. It was one of my most successful projects most likely because of its simplicity. It was really cool talking and posting about something like that to people who don’t do those types of things every day.

This blog project gave me a lot of experience in writing. Even though I am still not a perfect writer I do feel like I have improved in my writing. This blog gave me a lot of experience and that is something that will be very valuable in my future writings. Along with experience this blog gave me a reason to start writing again and a help me remember my love of it.
