for this project i will be making a rack for my neighbors smoker so he can use three more grates on his smoker. this project is less machine based than my projects in the past, the only requirements to complete this project are a saw that can accurately cut metal and a drill along with the materials necessary.
for this project your measurements will completely depend on your own smoker. and important note is that this will not work very well on a grill. my plan for this is to use aluminum L-channel for mounting the racks. my plan is to have two separate sides which will use one back mount made of L-channel and the front mount made of an aluminum strip the two mounts will be connected by three L-channel strips. each side will be mounted by four points. i am also going to use a plasma table to custom cut grill plates that will be the right size to fit across the smoker. I am unsure if u can buy grates that will fit across a smoker without separation in the center. Although I am making custom grates for the smoker this project is mainly about making the racks themselves. it is important to use grill paint your entire projects to make sure that none of the aluminium warps do to the heat.
overall this is a fairly simple project but it dose require more materials than my usual projects and this is much more of a custom fit job which is why i am not posting my measurements as to not confuse any readers who wish to attempt this project themselves. the only real tool that might make this project hard to do is the access to a saw that can cut through the aluminum L-channel
