this weeks reading was some of the most frustrating and interesting set of articles I’ve ever read. the first article i read was “Reading Like A Writer”, this is a very informative piece which discusses how to read and analyze works with a focus on how they were written instead of what they are about. This article gave hints and help on how to analyze works and learn from them. the second piece I read was “and by Islands I Mean Paragraphs”, this is where the frustration comes in. this piece is actually a complex computer code which creates randomly generated paragraphs on a background resembling a map. although the explanations to both these pieces can be found on the notes post for this section and most of the people who read this post have already read both these articles, I feel to give a proper reflection on these articles an refresher must be given to reassert the major differences between these two pieces. the major reason the differences in these pieces must be highlighted is to realize the difficultly faced when reading these two pieces in a row,a difficulty I am sure all my class mates faced as while. The main issue I face with “and by Islands I Mean Paragraphs”, was trying to solve it. After discussions with my classmates as while as my teacher, along with my own study of this article, i concluded that there is no hidden meaning behind the article, no real reason for attempting to read the article other than the fact that it is cool. despite all the whining and ranting that can be found in this reflection i did find the articles quite enjoyable to read, and I did find if you use some of the strategy’s in the article “Reading Like A Writer”, and you look at “And by Islands I Mean Paragraphs” from the perspective of its creator you can see how impressive it is.
