I apologize for the lateness of this post due to weather constraints I was unable to post last week.
for this set of posts as you can clearly see above I plan to laser engrave the phone case of one of my friends from class. before you read this post make sure you have read the previous post”Laser Cut Phone Case: Mentor blog” to understand the terminology used in this post. for this project i will be using the programs: Inkscape to create my drawing, U.L.S. to resize and crop the drawing as while as translate the cut, and a program which came with the laser engraver to control the engraver.
My friend wanted to engrave his name but this process can be performed with any image that can be downloaded as a png or jpg file once you have your image you must remove the fill line and reduce your line width to .001 and make the color of your line either red for vector engraving, blue for raster engraving, or black for cutting.now that your image is set you must export it to win 32 vector print. once you have the drawing in U.L.S. the next step is to resize and crop the image. after that you need to send your image to the program you use to control the laser engraver and move the image to the location desired and then you only need to run the program. that is all there is to engraving a phone case or whatever you seek to engrave on.
