even though the mentor blog’s projects are a lot more complex they do explain more complicated methods. the methods explained by the blog posts give me a better understanding of how to use certain programs to generate the image that will be cut on the laser cutter. through the rest of this blog post i will explain the terminology used in the mentor blog pertaining to laser cutting. there is two main words used in laser cutting which can change the appearance if a project wildly;vector and raster. a vector engraving is done with simple lines and and results in a sharp clean image but it will lack detail due to the fact that there is no variation in the cutting. a vector drawing can be used to both cut and engrave.
a raster is done by planing out a surface while cutting at different depths these drawings produce a much more detailed sketch but because of the lack of color while cutting the image produced is much ,ore messy than a vector engraving
